The Hand-Formed visionary glass sculptures
In its time, production art glass was a recognized import for the trend- conscious "modern" household and began to be owned by collectors. I have reworked those glass craftsmen's visions through my attunement to currents that counsel me to place pieces, from sometimes disparate sources around the world, into intimate, permanent contact through the use of specialized optical epoxy.
I combine glass pieces to create completed entities that appear to be made of anatomical elements designed from the start to be attached permanently. Sometimes older pieces are used as is. More often though, I modify them through cutting, polishing, grinding and drilling. I will add them to new blown pieces that I make to finish a particular sculpture. I often reuse art glass that is chipped or broken, which collectors ignore. At no time do I use glass signed by other artists. I believe there is a magic in giving them a new life and place in being parts of something larger.
